Lead Social Worker - Teddy
Hey! I’m Teddy (they/them)! I’m queer and nonbinary/transmasc, and I’m also neurodivergent (ADHD). In my non-work life I’m a parent of two tiny humans and three slightly large cats, a terrible housekeeper, and a bit of a birth nerd. I love a crisis, hate washing dishes, and I’ve kept at least three plants alive for 5 years (we won’t talk about all the other ones I’ve neglected…).
I have been a social worker for more than 8 years, and I’ve mostly worked with individuals and families to address intergenerational trauma, parenting struggles, emotional regulation, and mental health. I think my clients would describe me as warm, nonjudgemental, and a bit quirky.
I use techniques from a range of modalities and I firmly believe that healing happens in the safety of a therapeutic relationship. I love to talk about how the brain works, reduce the shame around mental health and disability, and help come up with creative ways to make life work. I believe that people do the best they can with what they’ve got, and that everyone has strengths they can work with. As a social worker I don’t just think about mental health by itself, I also think about the ways your environment, society, and your struggles impact on your wellbeing.
I am particularly passionate about working with queer people, autistic and adhd folk, and new/expecting parents. I also work with families as a whole to improve family functioning.
